D. ALLEN BAUER, 92, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Parkview Hospital. Born in Springfield, Ohio, he moved to Fort Wayne in 1930. He graduated from North Side High School and International Harvester Apprentice School. He worked at International Harvester Company for over 39 years and then with David Wade & Associates for 25 years. He also served as past Chair of the local chapter of the American Society of Tool & Manufacturing Engineers (ASTME). He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a long-time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and was involved in many church activities, especially the Seniors Group and the Men's Chorus. For many years he volunteered with The Fort Wayne Lutheran (publication) and Lutheran Life Villages (Lutheran Home). He was a proud member and supporter of the Three Rivers Railroad Heritage Council. He is survived by daughters, Edythe (David) Eickemeyer of Peachtree City, G., Carolyn Koehler (April Smith) of Mililani, Hawaii and Ruth (Joe) Springer of Fort Wayne; and grandchildren, Sara (Jeremy) Long, Julie Eickerneyer, Joel (Deborah) Eickemeyer, Aaron (Meghan) Dohring, and Katrina Springer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Helene; sister, Irene Hoffman; and brother, (John) Jack Bauer. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lutheran Life Villages Chapel, 6701 S. Anthony, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow service in Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
