CLAUDE E. BROCKWAY, 90, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at Heritage Park Nursing Home. Born Nov. 4, 1919 in Philadelphia, Pa., he worked at International Harvester, Fort Wayne, for 35 years before retiring in 1976. he served his country in the South Pacific with the 37th Division, during WWII. In 1949 he joined the Indiana Air National Guard and was activated during the Korean Conflict and went to France during the Berlin Crisis. He retired from the Guard in 1968. He was a member of North Scipio United Methodist Church, Harmony Lodge 19, I.O.O.F., Summit Encampment 16, I.O.O.F., Concordia Rebekah Lodge 41, I.O.O.F. and served as Grandmaster of Indiana I.O.O.F. Lodges in 1989. Surviving are son, Kenneth E. (Kathy) Brockway of Fort Wayne; daughters, Susan E. (Jack) Vore of Fort Wayne and Vivian Ann (Marion) Dailey of Bryant; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Also survived by a Sister Pauline Clark of Glendale, Arizona and a very special friend Lora Ruppert of Harlan, IN He was preceded in death by wives, Bertha, Virginia M. and Mary Isabelle; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Marsha Brockway; daughter and son-in-law, Debra C. and Edgar Chitwood; sister, Lillian Cox; brother, Paul; and stepbrother, Joseph W. Spranger. Service is 10 a.m. Monday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road with calling one hour prior to service. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Memorial service by Harmony Lodge 19, I.O.O.F. 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Interment in Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials to I.O.O.F. Educational Foundation.
