CHARLES R. "DICK" SNYDER, 81, of New Haven, died on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, 6:18 p.m., at St. Joseph Hospital. Born Monday, April 27, 1931, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of Irvin Snyder and Lucille (Dutton) Shane. His hobbies included wrestling and watching NASCAR racing. He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked in data processing at Lincoln Financial Group for 32 years, retiring in 1986. Surviving are his loving wife, Ruth A. Snyder of New Haven; stepson, Allen (Laura) Lauer Jr. of Fort Wayne; stepdaughter, Melinda (Eric) Lowry of Minneapolis, Minn.; stepson, Rodney (Heather) Lauer of London, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Barbara (Richard) Hill of Fort Wayne. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Sid Gauby officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the funeral home. Military service conducted by the U.S. Air Force. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Preferred memorials to VA Hospital, Fort Wayn, IN.
