Obituary of Charles "Charlie" Belch
Charles "Charlie" Henry Belch, 85, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Saint Anne Communities in Fort Wayne. Born and raised in Indianapolis, he studied at Saint Meinrad Seminary and College before graduating from Butler University. He earned his MBA from Drake University and Saint Francis College. Charlie married the love of his life, Donna Reed on July 14, 1962. In addition to Donna and his family, Charlie had many passions in his life. He studied joining the priesthood at Saint Meinrad Seminary before deciding on a career in business and having a family. He was very active in local politics serving many roles in the Democratic Party. He loved American history, seeing good people elected to public office, and helping those less fortunate. Charlie was a spiritual leader to many and made friends wherever he was in life. He had a successful insurance business career and was a tireless worker whatever the project. He was an active member of Quest Club, an avid fan of Notre Dame athletics, and rarely missed a Fort Wayne Philharmonic concert with Donna. Charlie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna Jean (Reed); daughters, Stephanie (Michelle), Mary Ann (Joe) and Margaret; grandchildren, Isaac Charles, Avery Lilliann, Adrian Reed, and Abram Henry; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Henry Belch; sister, Ann; and brother, Bob. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Plymouth Congregational Church, 501 West Berry Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46802, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Matthew 25.
