Carolyn K. Young Deck

Carolyn K Young Deck, age 92, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Sunday January 7, 2018. Carolyn was born December 12, 1925 the daughter of the late Russell and Wilda Young. Carolyn attended St. Joseph United Methodist Church for some time before she began attending Brookside Church. She worked as a ladies’ clothing manager at Huntner's and LS Ayers, she then worked as an assistant for optometrists for about 30 years before her retirement at the age of 74. She volunteered at Parkview Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, The Rescue Mission and St. Mary's soup kitchen in her spare time. Carolyn enjoyed traveling near and far any time she had the opportunity. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her family. Carolyn is survived by; daughter, Andrea Kelley; granddaughter, Amy (Marcus) Hardiek; great grandson, Spencer Hardiek, niece Reida Zezula; nephews, Lynn Woods and Douglas Woods. Carolyn was preceded in death by her spouse Theodore W Deck; father Russell Allen Young and mother Wilda Irene Young; sister Mary Elizabeth Woods. A funeral service for Carolyn will be held Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 1:00 PM at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46815, with calling from 12:30pm to 1pm. A visitation will occur Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Brookside Church or The Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
