She was born June 10, 1932 in North Vernon, Ind., a daughter of Earl W. and Susie Bell (Jordan) Wildey. Her formative years were spent in North Vernon. She graduated from North Vernon High School and St. Vincent School of Nursing in Indianapolis.
On April 3, 1954, she was united in marriage to Gerald O. "Jerry" Boyd.
A Registered Nurse for 40 years, she was employed at Bartholomew County Hospital in Columbus, McDonald Hospital in Warsaw and retired from St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She enjoyed reading, knitting, line dancing and was a member of Red Hat Strutters.
Surviving relatives include her husband of 63 years, Jerry; two daughters, Connie Sue Meredith, of Fort Wayne, and Jewel Ann (Denny) Martin, of Columbia City; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Morris F. Wildey, of North Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Carl Albert Wildey.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
