Carol L. Schust, 89, of Kendallville, Indiana, formerly of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024. Carol was born on July 24, 1934 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of the late Edwin and Helen (Bowser) Kortum. She was a 1952 graduate of South Side High School, Fort Wayne. Carol worked for 36 years for the Allen County government. She was a longtime member at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne where she taught Sunday School as well as Messiah Lutheran Church, Wolcottville, Indiana. She also belonged to the Jane Addams Society and enjoyed volunteering at the Embassy and painting in her free time. Surviving family include her husband of 63 years, Richard Schust; children, Barry Schust, Beth (Dan) Nieter, Belinda (Tom) Losher, and Brenda (Troy) Heisler; four grandchildren, Allyson (Jeff) Harbert, Madelyn (Brian) Bienz, Thomas (Ellie) Losher, and Hannah Grubbs; sister, Barbara Gordon; niece, Shelly (Ben) Beard; and nephews, Tim Gordon and Chris (Danielle) Gordon. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her sister, Gloria Dickerson. Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Life Villages - The Village at Kendallville or Concordia High School, Fort Wayne.
