Calford A. Waugh, 71, passed away April 10, 2025, at his home surrounded by family in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born January 21, 1954, in Flint, MI, the son of the late Calford and Lillian (Hindle) Waugh. He had 37 years of dedicated service at General Motors FWA in Fort Wayne, IN.
Cal was a lifelong coach, teacher, and cheerleader of many. He was an avid lover of baseball and sports, attending and coaching the games of his children and grandchildren. In his personal life, as well as in sports, Cal led by example. He knew that working hard and staying true to what he believed in brought a sense of purpose and fulfillment. His influence is still reflected today in so many of the young people he coached and mentored along the way. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and traveling to card shows. He was a die-hard University of Michigan fan, Go Blue!
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Waugh of Fort Wayne, IN; children, Guy (Heather) Waugh; Ryan (Kimberly) Waugh; Amy Waugh all of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Bailey (Hannah) Waugh of Fort Wayne, IN; Raegan Waugh of Tampa, FL; MaKayla Waugh of Indianapolis, IN; Hunter Waugh of West Lafayette, IN; Aiden Waugh, Kinsley Waugh both of Fort Wayne, IN; great-grandchild; Cruz Waugh of Fort Wayne, IN; siblings, Edward Waugh of VA; William (Mary) Waugh of IN; Ron (Lori) Waugh, Pat (Liz) Waugh both of Flint, MI; and best friend, Jeff (Terri) Beauchot who was with him through it all and his partner in crime. Cal was preceded in death by his parents, Calford and Lillian Waugh.
A memorial gathering will be on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Stillwater Hospice or Riley Hospital for Children.
