Betty Joan Weir, 84, passed away on September 12, 2024, in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born and raised in Fort Wayne and graduated from Central High School in 1958. She moved to Indianapolis and worked twenty-five years for the State of Indiana in the Legislative division.
Betty is survived by her son, James Tipton of Fort Wayne, IN; granddaughter, Chalena Tipton Hardy; grandson, Jimmy Jones; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Spillers Sr. and Ethel (Reicherd) Spillers; daughter, Cheryl Tipton; sisters Opal (Spillers) Conn and Virginia (Spillers) Byroade; brothers, Robert Spillers, Kenneth Spillers, Elmer “Bud” Spillers Jr., and Donald Spillers; and granddaughter, Laquita Tipton-Underwood.
Betty cherished the time spent with all her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral Service for Betty will be 12:00 pm Friday, September 20, 2024, at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN., with visitation starting at 11:30 am. Burial and Committal immediately following at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
