Bert B. DePue Jr., 93, of North Webster, formerly of Ft. Wayne, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Peabody Retirement Community. Born October 25, 1927 in Fort Wayne to the late Bert and Marie DePue. He graduated from Elmhurst High School and enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps near the end of World War II. He was a military policeman in Post War Japan assigned to General MacArthur. He was married to the love of his life, Ina Lu (Clevenger) DePue for 64 years; she preceded him in death in 2014. Their sons Steven and Kevin were his pride and joy. Bert was a 56-year member of the American Legion. He was a Past Post Commander and participated with the Honor Guard of Waynedale Post 241. Bert was most proud of his service to his country, and was a lifelong Purdue fan. Bert is survived by his son, Steven (Cindy) DePue of Fort Wayne; daughter in law, Karen DePue of North Webster; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kevin. A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals 6810 Old Trail Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809 with visitation beginning at 11am. Burial to follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to American Legion Post 241 or Northeast Indiana Honor Flight.
