Benita "Bennie" Pickard, 91, of Fort Wayne, joined her beloved husband, Ned in heaven on Sunday, April 13, 2025. They had 62 years together. Bennie was born in South Bend, Indiana on September 23, 1933, a daughter of the late Homer and Irene (Nemeth) Eaves.
Bennie had dedicated over 18 years at the Hilton Hotel at Fort Wayne International Airport. She loved her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She also had a passion for crafts, flowers, collecting antiques and dolls. Bennie loved to paint scenery and caricatures on the windows at her assisted living community. She liked to play cards, games, and going out to eat and then taking a trip to flea markets or thrift stores. Bennie was a spirit filled believer that loved the Lord.
She is survived by her two daughters, Brenda (Tom) Ford and Linda (Jim) Wood; grandchildren, Talon Harrell, Tyler (Brooke) Harrell, Jeff Ford, Jacob (Heather) Ford, Ryan (Christina) Gross, and Mat (Erin) Gross; great-grandchildren, Brady Harrell, Dayne Harrell, Addison Harrell, Nolan Harrell, Elaska Ford, Reed Ford, Emma Ford, Colt Ford, Dazmond Gross, and Kayla Gross; and her siblings, Dennis (Donna) Ferguson, Bob (Margaret) Ferguson, Marcia Sherman, and Toni Ferguson. Bennie was also preceded in passing by her brothers, Barry Eaves and John Ferguson.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809 with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Burial to follow the service at Covington Memorial Gardens. Contributions in Bennie's memory may be made to ASPCA.
