Barbara Ann Harvill, age 96, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024. She was born October 4, 1928 in Peru, Indiana to the late J. Marvin and Alma G. (née Upton) Behny. Barbara graduated from Central High School, Class of '45 and would marry the late Benjamin T. Harvill the following year. Barbara retired from Fort Wayne Community Schools after 24 years of service in 1993.
Barbara had many hobbies and interests including sewing, floral gardening, decorating her home and was actively involved at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church where she volunteered and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, but cherished time spent with friends and family the most.
Barbara is survived by her children, Janine Roser, Judy Rickert, and Mike (Kathy) Harvill; grandchildren, Emily (Jeff) Hearon, Megan (Tim) Deal, Elissa Rickert, Ben (Kit) Harvill, and Sam (Alexa) Harvill; ten great grandchildren; brother, Donovan Behny; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ken (Sue) Behny; sisters-in-law, Anne Behny, Mary Lynn (George) Huhn, and Virginia (Dave) Boyd; and son-in-law, Dan Rickert.
Funeral Service is 11 AM, Saturday, December 28, 2024 at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E Wayne St, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Friends and family will also be received 4 – 7 PM, Friday, December 27, 2024 at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes – Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Rd, Fort Wayne. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
