Obituary of Barbara Bash Gregory
Barbara Bash Gregory, 95, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 16, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Howard O. Bash Sr. and Lillian C. Bash. Barbara graduated from North Side High School and attended DePauw University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Shortly thereafter, she married Ross Gregory Sr. Barbara started her professional career as a buyer for Wolf and Dessaur, where she developed a sense for fashion. For 24 years, she was a volunteer for the Allen-Wells Chapter of the American Red Cross, where she served on the board and as the chairman of volunteers. She was the recipient of the Clara Barton Meritorious Award. Barbara was also a member of Child Study Group IV, an alumna of Tri Kappa, a member of P.E.O Chapter A.N and past president of Fort Wayne Art League. She spent a lifetime of summers at the Gregory family cottage on Hamilton Lake, entertaining family and friends, always reminding Mac to "lift the inboard engine cover". She and Ross also enjoyed wintering in Naples, Florida. Despite her love of being by the water, Barbara always considered Fort Wayne home and enjoyed frequent dinners with friends at Fort Wayne Country Club. Barbara is survived by her son, Ross "Mac" M. (Lesa) Gregory Jr.; grandsons, Ross "Trey" M. (Allison) Gregory III and Evan N. Gregory; great-grandchildren, Nathan E. Gregory, Jack M. Gregory and a third great-grandchild due April 2025. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ross Gregory Sr.; daughter, Stacey Gregory Decker; brother, Howard Bash Jr.; and sister, Sally Guebard. Barbara will be laid to rest at Lindenwood cemetery after a private ceremony. In lieu flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the wonderful organization Parkview Hospice, 1900 Carew Street Suite 6, Fort Wayne Wayne, Indiana 46805.
