Barbara Jeanne Armstrong

Barbara Jeanne Armstrong, 95, passed away October 15, 2023, at Kingston Residence in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born November 1, 1927, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Hesse Henry Rosenbloom and Regine Gladys Minske. Barbara worked as a self-employed copywriter in the advertising field. She married her husband, Scott Armstrong, on May 28, 1949, and they lived together in Fort Wayne. Barbara was an avid bird watcher, maintaining a large number of bird feeders at her home and delighting in the fun of cardinals and other winged visitors. In her later years, she was an excellent pen pal, keeping up correspondence with family across the country via her Smith Corona typewriter and cards. Her warm personality, intelligence and curiosity was always apparent in how she asked questions and remembered details. Barbara’s giving spirit was present throughout her life, as well as in her death, through the gifts she made to numerous charities, many to support animals. She also made a generous contribution to Kingston Residence, reflecting her desire to help others living there. Barbara is survived by her nephews Paul (Gail) Armstrong of Bear, Delaware, and Robert Armstrong of Shingle Springs, California; her nieces Melanie (Mike) Marhenke of Fort Wayne and Rebecca “Becky” Armstrong of Rochester, Vermont; extended family; and longtime friend Pam (John) Pranger of Pleasant Lake, Indiana. She was preceded in death in 1997 by her husband, Scott Armstrong Jr. Private services will be held with a burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
