Anna Mae "Ann" Squires, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Born on September 25, 1933, in Marion, Indiana, she later moved to Fort Wayne as a young adult. Ann's life was defined by her deep love for her family. She married Robert Fischer Sr., with whom she shared four children: Rose, Pam, Linda, and Robert Jr. After Robert Sr.'s passing in 1971, Ann married again to Jim Squires. Ann's dedication to family extended beyond her immediate household, as she cherished her role in the lives of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. She worked at Alligers Market, where she began her career. She later joined GE, where she met Bob, and they married shortly thereafter. She then moved on to Lincoln National Life, where she played as pitcher on their softball team. Her career culminated at Aging and in Home Services, where she served as Nutrition Director for 20 years. She also found joy in sports, particularly through her involvement in the women's bowling league where she competed in national championships. She also had a love to play and watch softball. Ann was an avid Colts fan and had a special admiration for Elvis Presley, reflecting her vibrant personality and wide-ranging interests. Her favorite times of the year were Christmas and Easter, where she gathered with her extended family to celebrate and create cherished memories. Ann's adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively across the United States, fulfilling her love for exploring new places and experiences. She spent several years involved in Beta Sigma Phi for 47 years while volunteering at several events including Johnny Appleseed. Ann will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest B. Adamson and Adah F. (Miller) Adamson; her brother, Lewis Adamson; husbands, Robert L. Fischer Sr. and James P. Squires; and her daughter, Rose Fischer. Ann is survived by her children, Pam Fischer, Linda (Jim) Gran, and Bob (Connie Lothamer) Fischer; as well as her grandchildren, Danielle (Daniel) Huff, Nicole Grames, Tarrah (Chris) Roberts, Stephanie (Kyle) Battell, Jen Evans, Missy Bolyard, and Joseph Fischer; along with 26 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Ann's legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with her love, generosity, and joyful spirit. Her family and friends are immensely grateful for the precious years they shared with her, and her memory will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 1:00 pm at United Faith Presbyterian Church, 1616 West Main Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46808 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46809 on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, with a Sorority Memorial Service beginning at 2:30 pm and visitation continuing from 2:45 pm to 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
