Ann E. Yager, 69, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017. Born on February 23, 1948 in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Margaret A. (Watson) Gallatin. Ann graduated from South Side High School in 1965, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and selected as the DAR Best Citizen. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from Purdue University in 1969. She was the Pledge Trainer Alpa Xi Delta Society. She was also the member of Kappa Delta Pi, a national Education Honor Society. She received her Masters of Science in Education in 1972 from University of St. Francis. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a society for women educators. Her love of teaching children was demonstrated throughout her career which spanned 28 years in the East Allen County Schools at Village Elementary and Hoagland Elementary. She was also very involved with the Nursery School Board at Waynedale United Methodist Church, and was a volunteer in organizing the Children's Discovery Corner at the Fort Wayne Botanical Conservatory. She was a great example of the power of courage and positivity during her struggle with MS.
She is survived by husband, Robert O. Yager; sister, Marilyn K. Gallatin; and daughters, Susan (Richard) Kapff and Karen (Marc) Albrecht. Her grandchildren, Janelle, Adam, Caroline, and Cora Albrecht were the lights of her life.
Family will receive friends, Thurday, June 15th, 2017 from 2:00pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Klaehn, Fahl, and Melton Funeral Home (6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, In 46819). Funeral service will be on Friday, June 16th, 2017 at 11 am at Waynedale United Methodist Church (2501 Church Street, Fort Wayne, IN) with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park (6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Waynedale United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice.
