ANDREW P. GUMBERT, 27, of Fort Wayne, was welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, after an inspiring battle with cancer. "Andy was an amazing husband, loving son, caring brother, wonderful uncle, respected colleague, and loyal friend." He proudly served his country as a member of the 122nd in Fort Wayne and served in Iraq in 2007. "Andy enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He made a difference in the lives of everyone he met." He truly followed the Air Force Core Values "Integrity First, Service Before Self, & Excellence In All We Do." "He will always be remembered by those who loved him for his sense of humor, patience, fortitude, and dedication to everything he was involved in. Andy may be gone but will never be forgotten due to the incredible legacy he leaves behind." He is survived by his wife, Missy; two dogs, Zeus and Athena; parents, Ron and Diane Gumbert of Fort Wayne; brothers, Sean Gumbert of Florida and David Gumbert of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Neely (Eric) Bultemeier of Bluffton and Kristin Gumbert of Chicago (and her fiancé, Patrick Milne of Wisconsin); grandmother, Kathleen Moses of Fort Wayne; nephew, Grant Bultemeier of Bluffton; niece, Katelyn Bultemeier of Bluffton.; in-laws, Mike, Diane, Marci and Shellie Mickelini; uncle and aunt, Dennis and Sharon Gumbert; and aunt, Darlene Gumbert. He was preceded in death by grandparents, William C. Moses and Alfred and Mary Jane Gumbert. Celebration of Life Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the 122nd Fighter Wing Air National Guard Base, 3005 Ferguson Road. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road.
