Alva J Clay, 90, passed away January 9, 2023, in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born September 1, 1932, in Breda, lowa. It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. But knowing our loved one is in heaven is joyous and peaceful. Her sister, Cleo brought her to Fort Wayne when she was 15 where she graduated from Central High School while working at the Embassy theater. She later worked at General Electric, and then became a very successful Real Estate Broker receiving many awards, also an auctioneer until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years Paul R. Clay, her children, Pamala "Candy" (Bill) Rogers, Gary (Denise) Clay and Gwen Sordelet. Alva had four grandchildren: Holly Kierski, Chris (Janell) Kierski, Cord Clay and Shelsea (Matt) Warstler who will treasure her memories, stories, baking and singing. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren Alec, Taylour, Ashley, and Ryann and her dog of 17 years, Reese, who will all miss their "Great Grams". 2 nieces, Teresa (Rick) Olerich-Cox, Kristi Harkenrider and 1 nephew Stephen Olerich.
Alva was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Del Olerich, Sister Cleo (John) Harkenrider, Brother Bob (Kathy) Olerich and her Granddaughter Shelby R. Sordelet.
A Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 10:30 am Saturday April 22, 2023, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road Fort Wayne, IN with visitation 30 minutes prior. Inurnment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
