Vera Mildred Smith

Vera Mildred Smith, 97, of Van Buren, AR., died April 1, 2015 in Fort Smith, AR. She was born June 3, 1917 in Magazine, AR to Aaron Pinkerton and Minnie Louisa Corley Roberts. Vera was a homemaker, an avid quilter, and was known as a person with a green thumb who had great success in the growing of a variety of plants and vegetables, and she loved camping at Blue Mountain.

She is survived by one daughter, Theresa Whitfield Crabtree Page of Sanger, TX; two sons, Ray E. Whitfield and wife Carolyn of Van Buren and Michael Ree of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Stephen G. Crabtree of Fargo, ND and Carolyn Crabtree Hathaway of Denton, TX; great grandchildren, Christelle Hathaway James of San Antonio, TX and Lauren A. Runnels of Drum, TX; great great grandchildren, Kanin M. James, Kadance C. James both of San Antonio, TX and Raelyn A. Thompson of Krum, TX. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Ray Morrell Whitfield, Ernest Ree, and Fount Smith.

Memorial service will be Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation and services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
