Angels carried away Tommy Ray Wagner, 59, of Van Buren. He was surrounded by family and loved ones at his home. He was born July 6, 1957 in Florence, Alabama to Reverend Ray I. and Betty Jean Grider Wagner. He graduated from high school in D'Iberville, Mississippi. Tommy was a veteran of the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division. He also devoted a large part of his life to the study of martial arts, achieving his 3rd degree black belt. He worked in casino security at Choctaw Casino and was a member of Northside United Pentecostal Church.
Tommy is survived by his wife and daughter, Katt and Aliya; his mother, Betty Jean Wagner of Fort Smith; his sisters, Janice Brooks and husband Daniel of Waynesville, Missouri and Rhonda Jones and husband Glenn of Greenwood; his brother, Dana Wagner of Fort Smith, as well as a host of extended family. He was preceded in death by his father; and sister, Judy Cooper.
Funeral services will be at 12:30pm Monday, April 17, 2017 at Northside United Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow, with United States Army Honors, at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. The family visitations will be from 2:00- 3:00pm and friends will be received from 3:00 - 4:00pm on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Edwards Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
