LTC (R) Steven D. Dixon, Sr., 59, passed away Monday, November 13, 2017, in his home in Pocola, OK. He was born April 2, 1958 in Fort Smith, AR to Jerry and JoAnn Dixon. He retired from Riverside Furniture Manufacturing after 28 years as supervisor in the finishing and packing departments.
Steven was a 29-year veteran of the Arkansas Army National Guard. He served in multiple command positions in the state of Arkansas and was deployed to Desert Storm/Desert Shield with the 142FA where he received the Bronze Star Medal. He also received the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and the Honorary Order of Saint Barbara.
Funeral service will be 11:30 AM Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the Trinity Baptist Church, 904 East Pryor Ave., Pocola, OK with Pastor Paul Walker and Pastor Jeff Beshears officiating. Burial will be at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith with full Military Honors under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
Viewing will be Monday from 9:00 AM-7:30 PM with visitation from 6:00 PM-7:30 PM at the funeral home.
He leaves his wife, Pamela, of 36 years and 8 months; their sons, S. Duwayne Dixon, II and wife Jenny of Poteau, OK, William Douglas Dixon and wife Kayleigh of Arkoma, OK, Allan Wright and wife Angie of Pocola, OK and Glenn Wright of Pocola, OK; the loves of his life, his granddaughters, Natalie Dixon, Emalyn Dixon, Delilah Dixon and Kenleigh Dixon; his mother-in-law, Inez Dyke of the home; his sister-in-law, Dottie Trudo of Van Buren, AR; his parents, Jerry and Jo Ann Dixon of Fort Smith; his brother, Greg Dixon and wife Carol of Greenwood, AR; his sister, Heather Reeves and husband John of San Diego, CA; and his nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends beyond measure.
Pallbearers will be SSgt. S. Duwayne Dixon, II, SFC. William Douglas Dixon, Allan Wright, Glenn Wright MSgt. Perry Davis and Doug Kelly. Honorary pallbearers will be Maj. Gen. (R) William Wofford, COL. (R) Tommy Hunt, COL. (R) Tony Bryant and COL. (R) Jeffrey Montgomery.
