Rosemary is my dearest friend..we would talk on the phone all hours of the night. Rosie was always there for me through rain and shine. I never knew Rosemary Webb. I'm writing this to thank her posthumously for all of her painstaking and meticulously documented research into the  history of our Duncan family, above all her posting on geneology.com of numerous family photographs which never made it to my branch of the family.  The prize posting (the "I fell out of my chair discovery") was a photograph of Florence Duncan, who passed in 1930, when my mother, Elizabeth Duncan Ireland,  was 9 months old.  My mother is alive at 92 and until now, had never seen a photograph of her own mother!  Thank you Rosemary!

For all of Rosemary's living descendants, know that Rosemary's work and legacy will be cherished for years to come!

Rosemary was always such a welcoming and affirming presence in Crawford County Cuties and River Valley Writers.  I enjoyed her company and always missed her when she wasn't able to attend.

I will miss her and keep the family she loved so much in prayer during this time of grieving.

We all called her Rosie, which she preferred. And for most of the ten-plus years that I was privileged to know her, she was just that personification. Rosy in personality. Rosy in spirit. Rosy in disposition.
     Of course, time changes all things. In the early years of my friendship with Rosie, we went to writer's conferences together, and frequently met for lunch, or even just a cup of coffee. Our meetings almost always had some relationship to the writing group, but were also acts of bonding. We genuinely liked each other, and wanted an opportunity to spend a little bit of time together. Rosie enjoyed being around people. Her training and experience as a nurse had ingrained her with a special knack for making people feel at ease around her. She was compassionate and a truly caring person.
     As time went by, due to changes in health (both hers and mine) we spent less time together. We laughed less. We shared less. But one thing always held true for Rosie. She was dedicated to River Valley Writers. Even after time and nature dulled her sharpness and sometimes fogged her mental processes, she genuinely loved the writer's group. She was an anchor member. When others drifted in and out, Rosie was always a part of the team.
     Rosie was there in 1998, when Barbara Rogers and Dusty Richards formed the group. She was there when Dusty Rhodes, Marion Marshall, Joyce Rapier, Claude Eubanks and Wayne Hancock became successful published authors. She encouraged all of us to enter our work in competition, and several members of the group, including Rosie, won numerous awards.
     Rosie didn't complain. In recent years she was plagued by several illnesses. She missed a few group meetings when her health wouldn't allow her to get out and go the places she longed for. But I would get email from her, sent in the wee small hours of the morning, where she had run across an article about writing techniques, or something pertaining to the craft she loved so much.
     She also loved her family. She occasionally shared anecdotes with us that involved members of her family. Her husband, Doug, frequently dropped in at the meetings of River Valley Writers and attended the potluck celebrations that she had originated. I like to think that Rosie is enjoying her days now, sitting in a coffee shop on some golden-paved street, listening to Poe recite his work. Or perhaps she wanders alongside a stream laced with Weeping Willows, and hums a soft melody as Longfellow quotes from "Evangeline". Whereever she is, Rosie is probably carrying her favorite notebook, ready to jot down anything that inspires her. And what an inspiration she was!
Rosie will be missed by us all.
