Richard (Rick) Clyde Stiles, 76, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away Monday, October 3, 2022. Born September 7, 1946 in Fort Smith, Rick started early helping his father Clyde at their gas station. He spent 7 years in the Navy on submarines, leaving as an Electrician's Mate Petty Officer 1st class with a lifelong passion for them. He was an avid book reader and you would find his kindle went everywhere with him. He enjoyed many different hobbies over the years with some being drag-racing, magic (once being the official magician of Walmart), programming computers, speaking various languages, cattle-herding, photography, and long-distance bicycling, having ridden 2600 miles across the country in 2013. He was a lifelong woodworker and craftsman, having built many different pieces of furniture, fixing up every home he ever lived in and building his own home in Montana after retiring. Rick always enjoyed supporting his community through involvement with his local church, Boy Scouts, Junior Achievement, coaching sports and teaching in retirement.
Rick leaves behind Margie his wife of 55 years, brother-in-law Larry, son Eric, daughter-in-law Laurie, and 2 grandsons, Cameron and Aaron, who affectionately knew him as Opa. Memorial Graveside Service will be 12:00 pm Friday at the National Cemetery. Service and cremation are entrusted to Edwards Funeral Home.
