Richard Moore

Richard Henry Moore, the son of Mattie Jane Daily Moore of Muldrow, Oklahoma and the late Billy Wood Moore, died December 4, 2016 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Rick was born September 14, 1948 at St Edwards Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

He was the grandson of Richard McKinley “Buz” Daily and Geneva Sagely Daily of Muldrow and Henry Wahab Moore and Ina Lee Adair Moore of Sallisaw. He is survived by his son, Zachary Moore and his wife Rhoda of Lincoln Nebraska; and his daughter, Geneva Rae McNamara and her husband James “Mac” McNamara of Moyock North Carolina; his grandchildren, Jacob Moore, Sydney Moore and Ashley Priest-Moore of Nebraska and Christina and William Richard McNamara of North Carolina; two sisters, Cathryn Reinoehl of Marietta Georgia and Susan Chesshire of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two nephews, Jason Morris of Georgia and Sonny Dobbins of Ft Smith; and two living aunts, Connie Daily and Talitha “Dale” Daily of Muldrow.

Rick graduated from Burgess High School in El Paso, Texas where he played all sports concentrating on baseball and basketball. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. He worked for Shelter insurance as an adjuster and agent in Tennessee and Arkansas. He retired from Shelter Insurance as district sales manager in North Platte, Nebraska. He won many awards and traveled in Europe and South America. He enjoyed working and collecting model railroads, hunting ducks and pheasants, training his dogs, he designed and made stain glass and garden stepping stones and worked in his garden. He played duplicate bridge at the bridge house in Fort Smith and enjoyed the activities at the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Rick was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Van Buren, Arkansas, in the 1980’s he was active at St John’s Episcopal Church and served as junior warden. He recently sang with the choirs at Butterfield Place in Fort Smith, 1st Baptist Church in Muldrow and Trinity Methodist Church in Muldrow.

The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at the residence of Jane Moore

Service will be at 10:30 Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 918 North 9th Street, Van Buren AR. Interment will be Thursday December 8, 2016 at the Sallisaw Oklahoma City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Dobbins, Jacob Moore, Jason Morris, Bob Alderson.
