Ray Palmer

Ray Emerson Palmer, 94 of Fort Smith, AR, passed away, Thursday morning, October 26, 2023, in the local hospital with his devoted daughter Cindy at his side. He was born in Rex, Georgia where he lived until he was 17 years old and joined the U.S. Navy. He was stationed mostly in San Diego, CA where he lived for 52 years. Ray served and retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service. Ray was a wonderful Husband to Dolores Palmer for 63 years, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His 10 great-grandchildren lovingly called him Papa Ray and loved going to his house to visit. He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores Palmer and sons Randy and Kevin Palmer. He is survived by his sister Jeanette Fisher, daughter Cindy Howell and her Husband Paul Howell MD, 4 Grandchildren Ashley, Danielle, Hannah, and Zachary and 10 Great Grandchildren.

Ray was a member of the Fort Smith Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

The Military Service will be officiated by Lenton Butler on November 2, 2023 at the National Cemetery at 11am, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
