Randolph Carney Ney, 26, son of Margot Carney and Randy Ney, was found dead in his Tulsa, Oklahoma apartment on Friday, July 15th. Randolph was born in Beaumont, Texas on June 20, 1985 and moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1992 at the age of 7.
Randolph is remembered as a highly intelligent, sweet, caring, sensitive young man. He loved music, the elderly, children and pets.
Randolph attended Christ the King Elementary, Trinity Junior High and was a 2003 graduate of Southside High School. He then enrolled in Tulsa University where he majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry, and graduated with a B.S. degree and a high grade point average in May 2007. He considered this one of his greatest achievements. He was looking forward to beginning a promising new career.
Randolph is survived by his mother, Margot Carney, of Fort Smith, Arkansas and father Randy Ney and wife, Lea Ney of Houston, Texas, brother Jonathan Ney of Elmira, NY, a sister, Jennifer Ney Davis of Houston, Texas and brother Marshall Ney and wife Richalle, children, Smith and Isabella of Rogers, Arkansas and maternal grandmother Marguerite Carney, of Fort Smith.
Randolph was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather George D. Carney, Jr., and his paternal grandparents Ione and Jerome Ney, Sr. He is also survived by his aunts Donna Agee and her husband Bobby of Sherwood, Arkansas and Debbie Carney of Fort Smith, Arkansas and an uncle Jerry Ney of Culver, Indiana, and Dr.Marlin Hoge, who was like a grandfather to him.
He is also survived by cousins, Donnell and Gene Becker, their children, Brooke, Brandon, Brady and Briley, Ronnie and Andrea Vervack Jr., their children, Katie and Claire, great uncle, Irvin Sternberg and great aunt, Sydney Sternberg.
Pallbearers will be Tim Brewer, Chris Rogers, Corey Weldon, Patrick Charlton, Cort and Bram Moffitt, Zach Jennings, Brandon Becker and Jonathan Ney.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to The River Valley Animal Welfare Coalition, 4300 Rogers Avenue, Suite 20, Box 256, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72903.
Rosary will be said 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 19th at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1920 S. Greenwood Rd in Fort Smith. The family will visit following the rosary at the church. Funeral Mass will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 20th at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
