Rachelle “Shelley” Perez (Cabrera) passed away on December 30, 2014 in Reynosa, Mexico. She was 32. Shelley was born on December 29, 1982 in Fort Smith to her parents, Daniel and Earlene Cabrera. She graduated from the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith with a degree in Elementary Education in May 2014. In August 2014 she began teaching preschool at St. Boniface Catholic School in Fort Smith. She married Rogelio Perez in November 2014. She was preceded in death by her mother, Earlene Cabrera.
Shelley was a lover of all children, especially her own nieces and nephews. All her life she dreamed of becoming a school teacher. Her passion for children and teaching was apparent to anyone who knew her.
Rosary will be said at 7:00 PM Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be 1:00 PM Monday, January 12, 2015 also at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
Shelley is survived by her father, Daniel Cabrera of Fort Smith, maternal grandmother Mary Lewis of Bartlesville, OK, paternal grandfather Jose Cabrera of Bauta, Cuba, one brother and sister-in-law, David and Mandy Hale of Fort Smith, two sisters and brother-in-law, Lisa and James Pendleton of Van Buren, and Sarah Hale of Fort Smith, eight nieces and nephews, one great nephew, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be her cousins.
