Born on April 30, 1932, in Lavaca, Arkansas, Patricia was the daughter of the late John and Montie (Stewart) Clawson. She graduated Valedictorian from Lavaca High School.
Patricia dedicated her life to servicing Jesus Christ. She served as Nursery and pre-school director, sang in the choir and taught Bible study and helped with many other activities at First Baptist Church in Fort Smith and at other local churches while her family living in Texas. She went on several mission trips, which included Mexico and Tanzania.
Patricia married, Scott Taff, on May 19, 1950, in Barling, Arkansas. Together, they raised three children and enjoyed a life full of adventure and love. Patricia was a talented seamstress, making many of her children’s and friends’ clothes. She served for many years as the Director of Volunteer Services at Sparks Hospital, teaching students and young adults the art of serving others by volunteering their time and services.
Her pastimes were reading her bible, walking, growing flowers, making divinity for family and friends at Christmas, and most of all, talking on the phone. She was an avid Razorback and St. Louis Cardinals fan, watching them any time she could. She dearly loved spending time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She prayed for each one of them daily.
One of her favorite things in life to do was to call her children, grandchildren on their birthday and sing Happy Birthday to them.
Patricia was a breast cancer survivor and would give counsel to many.
Patricia’s kind spirit, generosity, and compassion touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by her family, many friends, and all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, daughter Leda Oliver and husband Rick, of Bedford, Texas. Sons, Dennis Taff and wife Sue of Van Buren, and Brian Taff and wife Justine of Greenwood. One sister, Carol Hines of Owasso, Oklahoma.
Grandchildren include Russ Hill, Neil Vance, Cassie Stinson, Melania Yancey, Machele Bovea, Chasity Crenshaw, Jason McGehee, Ericka Grimes, Jessica Wing, Shea Lawrence, and many great and great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Scott Taff.
A visitation will be held Monday, September 30, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and funeral service will be held, October 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Both will be held at Edwards Funeral Home, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Patricia will be laid to rest in Oak Valley Cemetery, Lavaca, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Rick Oliver, Larry Yancey, Patrick Bovea, Britt Stinson, Jason McGehee, and Brent Crenshaw.
