Patricia Yeager Shaw passed on from this life on April 17, 2023. She was born in Dallas, TX on January 4, 1929. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Mary Margaret Baumberger, her Father Benjamin Reid Yeager, and her husband David C. Shaw.
Patricia touched many lives through her volunteer work for Hospice, Project Compassion, Area Agency on Aging, Fort Smith Museum of History, P.E.O., and the Visitor’s Center at Miss Laura’s. She had a kind and loving heart for all people but she reserved an especially soft spot for the small four legged creatures, loving all dogs and cats. In her travels she loved visiting area zoos and observing the animals. Pat enjoyed life to the fullest enjoying travel as well as entertaining friends in her home. It was a surprise to her family to find her an active participant in the game of pickle ball with her friends at the fitness center.
She was a big advocate of her Fort Smith home and community, always proud to share the many attributes of her adopted home town. She possessed a true zest for living, gracious and effervescent, adding joy to any event she attended. Intelligent, kind, humble; she was a true lovely definition of a proper lady to the very end of her days.
Patricia adopted the children of her spouses as her own. She is survived by her brother, James Yeager of Dallas. Her extended family by marriage included Tom Wilson (Evelyn) of Fort Smith, their son Doug Wilson (Betsy) and their children Griffin, Blake, and Ethan; nephew Robbie Wilson; David L. Shaw (Jeanne) and children Carlye Dudgeon (Brian), Todd Shaw, Matt Shaw (Brandy); Rick Shaw (Cathey) and children Heather Podmore (Jon), Emily Skinner(David), Gretchen Gruenberger (Scott), and Mary Shaw; Cindy Shaw Ballard and children Shawn Ballard (Josiah) and Chad Ballard (Miriam). She is also survived by a host of great grandchildren, cousins, and dear friends.

There will be a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Roebuck Chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith, with a reception in the church Narthex immediately following the service. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, TX at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
