O. H. Guinn, 88, of Fort Smith, passed away Sunday July 24, 2011. He was born August 10, 1922 in Ratcliff, AR to the late John and Florence King Guinn. He served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II in the South Pacific with Honor. He worked in the construction field in the Fort Smith area for over 40 years. He was considered a Master Craftsman in his trade. His hobbies included gardening, cooking-baking, loved to talk with his Coffee Club, he was a great story teller and he never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Laverne Guinn.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Brother James Woodruff and Dr. Vaughn De Coster officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by one son Rickey Guinn and wife Rose of Fort Smith, two daughters Brenda Guinn of Fort Smith and Sandra Johnson of Roland, OK, two sisters Annis Jarnagan and Ruth Whittenburg both of Charleston, AR, three granddaughters Amy Gipson and husband Chris of Fort Smith, Ashley Earnhart and husband Brandon of Fort Smith and Kendra Asher of Roland, OK and two great grandsons Austin Gipson and Elam Earnhart both of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Irvin, John Wooden, Homer Varnado, Chris Gipson, Brandon Earnhart and Mike Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Coffee Club Carroll West, W. C. Kesner, Ben Frietsche, Joe Wolbe, Paul Whisenhunt and Jerald Edwards.
The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening, July 27, 2011, from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
