Willie Naomi Hardcastle-89 of Van Buren, Arkansas passed from this life on Monday, October 16th in Fort Smith, Arkansas surrounded by her family. Mrs. Hardcastle was born on April 8th, 1934 to Arval and Octavia Thetford in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She attended Fort Smith High School and graduated in 1952.
Naomi went on to work at Wortz Biscuit Company in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She then married Kenneth J Hardcastle on May 19th, 1956, and moved shortly after to Port Neches, Texas. She was employed by Sears and Roebuck while living there. They moved back to Fort Smith in 1971. She then was employed by Harding Glass Plant in Fort Smith, and Farmland in Van Buren, Arkansas, then went on to finish her work years at Superior Federal Bank in the accounting department.
Naomi was very active in serving in her church Music Ministry. She and her husband Kenneth were charter members of Butterfield Assembly of God in Van Buren, Arkansas.
Naomi enjoyed reading, puzzles, baking and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth of Fort Smith, Arkansas, her son Lee J Hardcastle and his wife Becky of Ft. Smith, 1 brother-Jerry Thetford of Irving, Texas and his wife Faye. 1 sister-in-law, Ann Thetford of Houston, Texas. Naomi has 2 grandchildren; Trevor Hardcastle and his wife Courtney of Fort Smith, and Kimberly Ohm and her husband Hayden of Greenwood, Arkansas. She has 2 great grandchildren, Abigail Ohm and Alyssa Ohm also of Greenwood, AR. Naomi also has numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Arval and Octavia Thetford, her brother Jack Thetford of Houston, Texas, and her sister Arvalene Faulkner of Waxahachie, Texas. Also, a nephew; John Thetford of Houston, Texas.
Pall Bearers will be: Trevor Hardcastle, Hayden Ohm, Mark Sallee, Tim Sallee, Brian Faulkner and Jeff Thetford.
Funeral Service will be 10 AM Monday, October 23, 2023, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith, with burial to follow at Fort Smith National Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends Sunday, from 2 – 4 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
