Born in Mountainburg on January 22, 1922 to Dr. M.H and Ella Scott, “M.H.” raised three daughters and a son with his wife of 64 years, Anna Elizabeth (Betty) Scott, who passed in 2009.
M.H. served as Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Fleet Reserve Association. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after his naval career.
A lifelong, accomplished hunter and fisherman who spent countless hours in the hills above his beloved Sugar Loaf Lake, M.H. was a member of Quail Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation.
M.H. was a 50-year member of the Belle Pointe Masonic Lodge #20, F & A.M in Fort Smith and lifetime member of the Temple Lodge #755 F & A.M. He served twice as District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Arkansas. He was a 50-year member of the Valley of Fort Smith Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and served as wardrobe chairman, inspector general honorary of the 33rd Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite and was an honorary member of the Supreme Council. M.H. served 50 years as a Royal Arch Mason and Knights Templar of the York Rite Bodies.
He is survived by his daughters Marty Blevins, Monique Kremers and Susan Scott; son Morgan “Skipper” Scott, III; grandsons Jason and Travis Blevins, and granddaughters Lacy and Amy Scott, and Siobhan and Morgan Kremers.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 10:30AM in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, with Navy honors, will follow at Fort Smith National Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 5:00-7:00PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
