She is survived by her son, Brad Jones of Charleston, Arkansas. Her brother, Robert Vestal of Naples, Florida and sister, Brenda Vestal Zimmerman of Lake Worth, Florida; sister-in-law Waltraud Vestal of Germany; brother-in-law, Ottis McElhaney, Jr of Dallas, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Newell and Gloria Vestal, Joe Keith Vestal, Richard and Wilda Vestal, Jeanette (Vestal) and David Adams, Reba (Vestal) McElhaney, Kenneth and Tommie Vestal, and former husband, Bill Jones.
She was well known for working as a bank teller at First National Bank in Fort Smith; beginning in the 1950s, until her retirement in the mid-1990’s. In the mid-1950s while working as a teller at the Fort Chaffee location, Elvis Presley frequently came to bank while he was stationed there.
She was a member of the Fort Smith High School Class of 1949 and attended both the Goddard United Methodist Church and First Nazarene Churches of Fort Smith.
Her hobbies include tending to her flower beds, gardening, and family genealogy; as well as traveling to Dallas and Florida to visit family.
Services will be held at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 11:00 am. The family will receive visitors on Sunday at the funeral home from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Interment will take place immediately following the services at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers include her son, nephews James Adams, Jerry Bley, Jonathan Lawton, Terry Potter, Lance Vestal and Eric Vestal; Honorary Pallbearers included Steve and Michael Vestal.
