Mary Gant

2024.

Mary was born on January 26, 1938 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Albert Bailey Wright and Ada Wilson

Wright. She was the baby of a family of 10 and remained close to them.

She married Floyd Gant in Fort Smith, AR on Feb 15, 1956. They had a special soulmate marriage

lasting for 68 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother always

putting the needs of others before her own. She had a way of drawing everyone to her and we are so

grateful for the memories we shared. And also, for the conversation and laughter enjoyed around the

table playing cards, our bellies full of her home cooked food, and our hearts full of love. She was always

quick with entertaining stories, jokes, and could throw ornery comebacks with the best of them but also

shared compassion, strength and wisdom.

Mary is survived by her husband, Floyd Gant, daughters, Sheliah (Rick) Scott, Yvonne (Larry) Pierce,

Pam (Ted) Grace, and by 9 grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren.

We mourn her passing but take comfort that Mary is now at peace surrounded by her family and friends

that went before her.

Services will be held at Edward’s Funeral Home Chapel (Ft. Smith), Monday, June 3rd at 10 a.m.
