Leo Cretnik, 101, of Fort Smith, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016. He was born November 12, 1914 in Minden Mines, MO to the late Jacob and Mary Cretnik. He was the oldest of nine children. He worked in Coal Mines #3 and #18 in Jenny Lind, AR. He was a retired Clerk for the U. S Postal Service after 32 years of service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, U.M.W.A., A.A.R.P., N.A.R.F.E., U.C.T. He was a bowler for 50 years and he was a member of the Fort Smith Bowling Hall of Fame. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Roberta Mailer Cretnik and his brothers and sisters.
Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 26, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church. Private family Committal service will be at Fort Smith National Cemetery with Military Honors under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his daughter Lucy O’Neal and husband Charles of Muldrow, OK and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will visit with friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
