Hello, My name is Patricia Edwards. Tomorrow is National Boss' day. I can easy send a message to a current supervisor but it's important that I remember past leaders and the support they have given during my career. As I searched for past leaders, I came across the news of Dr. Penix. It has been many years since I worked with the Department of Education when the state of Arkansas had the fortune of having Dr. Penix as a leader. I am sadden to hear of his passing. But I remember the work he did and what a difference he made for me and for the state of Arkansas through his hard work. I send my best regards to the family. Kevin, one of the best bosses I ever had. Oh the laughs we had!!! You are not going to believe this, but a gentleman came into my office and wanted insurance on a home. I looked at the address and thought this is Kevin's old address. I looked at the county assessors web-site and it was...made me sad, you loved that place. March 1st would have marked our 35th anniversary of our fist date. I think of you and miss you everyday. The boys miss you and hate that you have missed out on some crucial time periods in their lives. They knew you were there in spirit. Thanks to the anonymous friend who keeps this site up to date. Dear Sherri, I just heard tonight that Kevin had passed away. I am so very sorry for you and the boys. You were both an inspiration to me when I taught in Ft. Smith.  You always and still do have my admiration as a Mom and an educator. I can't imagine how hard this past year has been for you. God bless you and your children.

Kevin was a great inspiration to me. I was shock to hear of his passing. He was such a highly motivated person. I had the wonderful experience to meet him when he was a district manager with Farmers Ins. He was kind and a true professional. I pray that Gods strength keeps his family.

I was thinking about Kevin yesterday. The laptop case I use, is an extra one he had...I do believe I'll keep it forever.

Sherri - I don't know if you remember me from Magnolia but I have thought of you and Kevin so often over the years since we were together there.  I was surprised to read of his passing because it hadn't been all that long ago that I reconnected with him on facebook.  My memories of Kevin are happy ones - he always had a smile and a way of lifting my spirits. I just heard about the passing of Kevin. Kevin has been my insurance agent for many years and I am just devastated to hear this news. He was the best insurance agent that I ever had.  He was caring and compassionate and really took the time to make sure that his clients received the best insurance coverage possible.  My deepest condolences and my sincere prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

I will never forget how much Mr. Penix meant to me, he was my elementary school teacher here in Magnolia. He was a fantastic teacher and he made such an impact on me. He touched so many young peoples lives and I am so thankful that I knew him. Thoughts and prayers for his family.

What a great joy it will be to see them graduate together in a few weeks. Kevin was so proud of Kyle and realy kept him going in football.

I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Penix.  He made such an impact as my third grade teacher. I will never forget that he drove back to Magnolia from Fort Smith to attend my class's high school graduation nearly 10 years after he'd taught us. Many, many prayers to the Penix family.

Wow! Mr Penix in a nutshell. He was my kindergarten teacher at Westside in 1984. The very first male in history. He made such an impact on me, enough so that I actually spoke of him fondly today. I picked up the Banner News this evening and read the news. My heart breaks for you Mrs Sherri and your boys. Mr. Penix was my third grade teacher many years ago. I have fond memories of standing at his desk reciting multiplication tables and earning baseball cards. Several years ago he recognized me and called my name across a crowded restaurant. What a blessing it was to catch up with him after many years had passed. I was so sad to hear of his passing.
