Kenneth Barry Selby, a resident of Fort Smith, was born on December 28, 1953, to Lorene and Cecil Selby. Tragically, he departed from this life on May 27, 2023, joining his beloved parents in eternal rest. Kenneth leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of those who knew him.
Kenneth is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years Joyce Selby, whose unwavering love and support were the pillars of his life. He also leaves behind his caring son, Eric Selby, and wife Amber, residing in Fort Smith. Additionally, his loving daughter, Keena Bryant, and husband Robbie, also of Fort Smith, mourn his loss deeply.
Family was paramount to Kenneth, and his legacy lives on through his adoring grandchildren: Dakota, Pierson, Paxton, Jaxon, Keeton, Connor, Hudson, Joseph, Tiana, Hadley, Avery, and Isaac. Their lives have been enriched by his presence and will forever carry the cherished memories they shared. Furthermore, one great grandchild will have the honor of hearing stories of Kenneth's remarkable life.
Throughout his career, Kenneth served as a dedicated telephone operator for Southwestern Bell until his well-deserved retirement. But his passion extended beyond his professional life. Kenneth was the proud owner and chief instructor of Fort Smith Taekwondo Academy, where he shared his knowledge and expertise with countless students. His commitment to teaching martial arts left an indelible mark on the community, fostering discipline, strength, and character in those under his guidance.
In addition to his immediate family, Kenneth is survived by his twin brother. He shared a special connection with his brother Ben Selby (Terri), who started life together and stood by his side throughout life's entire journey. Together, they created a lifetime of shared experiences and supported each other unconditionally. The strength of their sibling bond will endure, even in Kenneth's absence. As well as Ben’s son Adam Selby (Brooke) who he shared a strong bond. He is also survived by his siblings. Bobby Don Selby, Dan Selby (Shelia), as well as his sister Susan Kibler and his Phi Lambda Epsilon Brother Bruce Shaw (Shannon).
Kenneth will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, esteemed martial arts instructor, and cherished sibling. His impact on the lives of his family, students, and all who knew him is immeasurable. May his spirit find peace as his memory lives on in the hearts of those he knew and loved.
Visitation will take place with family and friends Friday June 2nd from 5-7 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
