John E. Slone, 81, passed away March 11, 2014. He was born June 22, 1932 in Booneville, AR to Dewey E. and Clara S. (Battenfield) Slone. He was retired from Southwestern Bell and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, VFW Post 8845, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. John was an Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce. He is survived by one son, John P. Slone and his wife Debbie, of Russellville, AR; two brothers, Paul W. Slone and his wife Ercel, of Hot Springs, AR and J.O. Slone of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren, Travis Slone and his wife Melissa and Cara Knight and her husband Brock; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Audrey and one on the way. Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 17, 2014 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial in U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be: Kenneth Spicer, Bill S. McCain, Leroy Caselman, Bill K. McCain, Max Foote, and Ben Beland.
