Jimmie Glen Miller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday January 9, 2024, blessed in the promise of eternal life. Jimmie was born and raised in El Dorado, Arkansas and graduated from Ouachita Baptist College with a bachelor’s degree in business. He was a member of the Ouachita Baptist golf team, where he fostered a lifelong love for the game, and went on to become a scratch golfer. The real highlight of his life at Ouachita was meeting Jane Ann Weber. Jimmie and Jane married in December 1963 and recently celebrated 60 years of blissful marriage and happiness as lifelong partners.
Jimmie was multitalented and highly driven in his professional pursuits in Sales Management and also as the owner of a chain of frozen yogurt stores in the Southeast. Throughout his life, Jimmie pursued his love of golf, tennis and spent many Christmas holidays snow-skiing with his family in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Later in life, these activities became less important when God called Jimmie to a life of service. In 2005, Jimmie and Jane returned to live in Jane’s hometown of Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Jimmie and Jane focused their time and energy towards supporting and responding to the physical and spiritual needs of the homeless and economically at-risk population in Ft. Smith. Jimmie answered the call to serve as a leader and beloved pastor at the Hope at Riverfront Church in addition to his volunteer work at the Hearts of Hope substance abuse facility. Jimmie was a beloved member of the Ft. Smith community and served as a mentor and support system for many, prioritizing the needs of others during the day, night, in the rain, or in the cold. In his later years, Jimmie’s focus was on Jesus Christ, which drove his unrelenting focus on improving and transforming the lives of others. The joy of his life was spending time with his children Laura (Sugi) and Michael and grandchildren Gavin and Madeline.
Jimmie is survived by his wife Jane Miller and his daughter Laura Miller of Little Rock, Michael Miller of Ft. Smith, Sisters Melissa Scott and husband Charles, Maydra Lammons, and Julie Lewis and husband Alan and nieces and nephews. Jimmie is also survived by his grandson, Gavin Terpilowski of Richmond, Virginia and Madeline Terpilowski of Alexandria, Virginia. Gavin and Madeline referred to Jimmie as Pepa and filled his heart with joy and pride throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, January 13th at Edward's Funeral Home 201 N 12th St., Ft. Smith officiated by Pastor Roger Haney.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hearts of Hope.
