James W. (Junior) Kelley, Jr, 71, of Fort Smith, passed from this life July 21, 2015 in Fort Smith. He was born October 11, 1943, in Fort Smith, to the late James W. “J.W.” and Flora Beam Kelley. Junior retired as the senior vice president of operations from First National Bank of Fort Smith. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to fish and hunt deer, elk and pheasant. He was also an admirer of classic cars and he was the occasional armchair quarterback or shooting guard for several universities.
He is survived by his wife Judith; his five children, Stephanie Davidson and her husband Scott of Fort Smith, Michelle Mitchell and her husband George “Clay” IV of Lavaca, James W. Kelley III and his wife Sarah of Fort Smith, Daniel Charles Kelley of Fort Smith and Kara Nicole Smith and her husband Darren of Fort Smith; one sister Louise Schenk of Fort Smith, as well as eight grandchildren, Brent Alan Davidson, Amber Lynn Davidson, Kelley Michelle Mitchell, Lynnlee Susanne Mitchell, James W. Kelley IV, Lauren Fox Kelley, Victoria Nicole Smith and Katelynne Nicole Smith. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Eva Whitehead, Bessie Tankersley and Jackie Geoates.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Steep Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2015 at Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Kenny and Kelley Schenk, Cletus Geoates, Phillip and Jeff Beauchamp, Tyler Neal and Jon Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Geoates, Jerry Tankersley, Donnie Geoates, Larry McIver and Eric and Dr. Carl Burnett.
