Jack E. Glover

Jack Elmore Glover, 87, went home to be with The Lord Jesus on Sunday, April 6, 2014 in Fort Smith. He was born on October 12, 1926 to Rufus and Clara Elmore Glover. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and served in the Navy Medical Corp during WWII. In 1948, he married Jackie Winford of Greenwood and they were married for 29 years until her death in 1977. Jack managed the PPG glass branch in Jackson, MS, before buying Arkansas Glass and Mirror Company in Fort Smith in 1964, from which he retired in 2012. He was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved his Lord, his family, and his work. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sue Smith Glover; one son, Danny Glover and his wife Kathy of Fort Smith; two daughters, Genia Smith of Fort Smith and Janet Edwards and her husband Ken of Franklin, TN; grandchildren Ashley and Jason Salmons of Bella Vista, Natalie and Jeff Cabe of Greenwood, Grant and Jennifer Glover of Fort Smith, Jonathan and Miriam Edwards of Chicago, IL, Matthew and Zachary Edwards of Franklin, TN; and 8 great grandchildren Hunter and Tanner Cabe, Lily, Jake, and Maddox Glover, Jack and Elam Edwards, and Alex Salmons. He is preceded in death by his parents Rufus and Clara Glover and Bertha Bridges Glover, and his wife Jackie Winford Glover. Funeral service will be Thursday at 10 am at Grand Avenue Baptist Church, with interment at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Grant Glover, Jeff Cabe, Jonathan Edwards, Hunter Cabe, Matthew Edwards, Zachary Edwards. Honorary pallbearer will be Tanner Cabe. The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM.
