Irene Perry, 89, of Fort Smith, passed from this life February 3, 2016 in Fort Smith. She was born, one of sixteen children, August 7, 1926 in Bonanza, Arkansas to the late Paul and Pearl Johnson Nemeth. Irene retired after 27 years of service in the cafeteria at Darby Junior High School. She was a member of Midland Heights United Methodist Church and was active with the United Methodist Women. She was the widow of Gus Perry, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her son, Mark Allen Perry.
She is survived by her daughter Gloria Cates (Jack) of Fort Smith; her son Gus Perry III (Margaret) of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; three sisters, Lila Nemeth of Bonanza, Arkansas, Marjorie Bradshaw of Pocola, Oklahoma and Margaret Farrell of Santa Clara, California; four brothers, Joe Nemeth(Sarah) of Waco, Texas, Victor Nemeth of Huntington Beach, California, Charles Nemeth of Long Beach, California and Nelson Nemeth (Petra) of Scottsdale, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Justin, Jeremy, Ben and Grant Cates, Natalie Johnson, Jocelyn Bartley, Lindsay Huddleston and Sam Perry as well as eleven great grandchildren, Jeremy Tyler, Reed, Parker, Will, Allison, Kara, Avery, Isabella, Camdyn, Perry and Blaire. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Graveside services will be at 12:00pm Monday, February 8, 2016 at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. The family will greet friends from 2:00 to 4:00pm Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Edwards Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
