Gordon Franklin “Pete” Williams, Jr, 68, of Barling, passed away at home on September 6, 2014, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by loved ones. He was born June 9, 1946 in Jamesport, Missouri. Pete retired from driving a truck, after 40 years behind the wheel. He was a 1964 graduate of Monett (Missouri) High School. He was active with a local state champion men’s softball team and a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Pete was a special “Poppy” to his granddaughters. He is survived by his mother, Dorma Lee Able of Monett, Missouri; two sisters, Sonya Lorfing of Kansas City, Missouri and Terri Mulvaney, and her husband Stanley, of Purdy, Missouri; a brother, Steve Williams and his wife Brenda of Oronogo, Missouri; his beloved girlfriend of many years, Debbie Hardesty of Barling; her children, Jackey Hardesty of Barling and Merry Ann James and her husband Kyle of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, as well as two granddaughters, Aaliyah Goins and Serenity Hardesty and grandson Colt and a host of other family and friends. Pete is preceded in death by his father Gordon F. Williams and his beloved step father John Able. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, September 13, 2014 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
