Gordon Peeler Jorden died December 25, 2013, one day before her 103rd birthday, at Sparks Hospital (Peachtree Hospice), Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and the widow of J.R. (Bid) Jorden. She was a 68 year member of First Christian Church, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher, CWF President, a Deaconess and a Trustee: a Life Member and Past Regent of the Fort Smith Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution; a volunteer at Sparks Regional Medical Center for 35 years; Past President of Sparks Auxiliary; Past President of Children’s Service League and had served on the Girls’ Shelter Board and The Salvation Army Board. She is survived by her children and their families; her son, Jim Jorden and wife Shirley of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, their children Philip Taylor Jorden of Houston, Texas and David Emerson Jorden of Houston, Texas, and David’s children, Madeline Leigh, Taylor Emerson, and Robert Francis Jorden; her son Paul Jorden and wife Judy of Lenoir City, Tennessee, their children Pamela Anne Jorden of Los Angeles, California and Mary Emerson McNinch of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Mary’s children, John Hale McNinch III and James Emerson McNinch; her daughter , Gail Jorden Kron and husband Carlos of Buenos Aires, Argentina, their children Karin Elizabeth Kron of Lewisville, Texas and Eric Robert Kron of Germany; her son, Doug Jorden and wife Mary of Scottsdale, Arizona, their children, son Michael Allen Jorden of Phoenix, Arizona and Michael’s daughter, Quinn Allen Jorden, son, William Emerson Jorden of Phoenix, Arizona, and daughter, Julia Jorden Baxter of San Diego, California and Julia’s children, Gage Roy Baxter and Dax Jorden Baxter. A memorial service will be held on December 28, 2013 at 1:00pm at First Christian Church with private interment at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
