Gene Boone

Clarence “Gene” Boone, Jr. 83 of Fort Smith passed away Monday, April 6, 2015. He was born October 13, 1931 in Fort Smith to Clarence E. Boone, Sr. and Fern A. Penney Boone. He was a member of South Side Baptist Church for 63 years and a Deacon. He was a retired Senior Master Sergeant from the 188th Fighter Wing of the Arkansas Air National Guard. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence E. Boone, Sr., mother Fern A. Kurtz and stepfather Ovlee Kurtz.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, April 10, 2015 at South Side Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Howard Huddle with burial and to follow at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith with Full Military Honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Gene is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue Boone, his daughter Cathy Campbell and her husband Terry of Fort Smith, two sons; Steve Boone and his wife Bettye of Little Rock, and Craig Boone and his wife Mary Ann of Van Buren; three grandchildren; Lizzie Boone of Van Buren, Scott Boone of Fayetteville, and Brandon Campbell of Fort Smith.

Pallbearers will be Don Jones, Bill Mason Curtis Sawyer, Bill Schemel, Scott Boone and Brandon Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Jordan and members of the Senior Mens Sunday School Class at South Side Baptist Church. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:30 PM-7:00 PM at South Side Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to South Side Baptist Church, 2400 Dodson Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901.
