Elizabeth Wade Simpson, 90, of Fort Smith, gave up her life on August 24, 2013 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. She was born July 29, 1923 in Little Rock, AR to Claude Wesley and Hazel Walsey Noble Wade. Elizabeth came to Fort Smith in 1939 and was a 1942 graduate of Northside High School. She was a 26 year employee of Sparks Regional Medical Center with 10 years of service with Sparks Manor and then served as the first president/manager of Sparks Federal Credit Union for 16 years, with an accreditation from the University of Wisconsin. She was a former member of Credit Women International where she served as treasurer on the local level and on several other committees of state and district levels. Always a teacher at heart, she was a 6 year Brownie/Girl Scout Leader for her daughters. At Southside Baptist Church she taught Training Union for many years and an adult women’s Sunday School Class for 11 years. Many members of the women’s class remained especially close to her after her move to her daughter’s home. She is survived by two daughters, Carann and husband Gene Fulghum of Cherry Hill, NJ and Libbie and husband Gary Hood of Surprise, NY; granddaughter Caitlin and husband Paul LaPlante and great grandson Connor Ryan; grandson Jonathan Stone and great grand- daughter, Kaelyn Ryan. She was preceded in death by her husband Cooper Simpson and grandson Christopher Ryan Stone. Mrs. Simpson is also survived by her special group of supportive friends known as “The Girls”: Dovie Tinsley, Julie Bates, Sue Hughes and their extended families. Funeral service will be Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be J. Mike Smith, Dave Goodson, Tim Johnson, Joe Wewers, Troy Stephens, and Junior Lewis. The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM.
