Dian Layman, 79, of Fort Smith, passed away July 18, 2017 in Fort Smith. She was born October 14, 1937 in Ozark, AR to George and Helen Freeman. Dian was an avid reader, gardener, and family genealogy researcher. As a young girl she served as a Page to the Arkansas State Senate where her father was a State Senator. She later moved to Fort Smith, graduated from Fort Smith High School and Westark Community College, and worked for Ayers Furniture Company for many years.
She is survived by three sons and their families, Dr. Kevin Layman and wife Gloria and their sons, Alex and Sean Layman, Brian Layman and his daughter, Lacy Layman, and Craig Layman; beloved sister-in-law, Tanya Freeman; two nephews, Mark Freeman and Matthew Freeman and wife Pam and their son Brennan and his wife Sarah. Dian was preceded in death her husband, H. Wayne Layman; parents, George Freeman and Helen Nordberg; and brother, David Freeman.
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 2-4 PM.
