Daniel Scott Nelson (AKA “Doc Danger”) of Tulsa, OK passed peacefully out of this world surrounded by his family on August 12, 2022. He was born April 14, 1962, in Tulsa, OK to Leslie Nelson and Louise (Link) Nelson. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and son. Dan was an attorney and real estate broker having graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law and was a devoted Razorback fan. He officiated high school football, was a gun enthusiast, and an avid project starter. Dan was also known for brewing beer with his heart (and not his hands). He had a love for music and playing his guitars. He had a quick wit and always loved an audience.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Louise Nelson; his brothers, John Nelson and Dave Nelson; and brother-in-law (guardian/dad), Frank Gibbons. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Nelson; his children, Chayla Witherspoon and her husband, Reed(y), of Denver, CO, and Connor Nelson and his wife, Bryanna, of Springdale, AR; his son-like nephew, Ryan McMahan and his wife, Alicen, and their two sons, Layton (Team Artsy-Fartsy) and Kylan, of Lee’s Summit, MO; his siblings, Linda Gibbons (guardian/mom), Suzie Boyer, Ron Nelson and his wife, Talana, of Mansfield, AR, Sandy Hanis and her husband, Bob, of Portland, OR, and Barb Nelson of Irving, TX; his father-in-law, Richard McMahan of Barling, AR; mother-in-law, June Lewis of Fort Smith, AR; sister-in-law Carol Reano and her husband Mike of Dayton, AR; brother-in-law, Rich McMahan and his wife Stacy of Lavaca, AR; lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, great- nieces, and nephews, as well as his two grand-dogs, Luna Nelson and Thor Witherspoon.
A celebration of life will be on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 11:00 am at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, AR. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
