Clyde Holman Johnston, Sr., 88, of Fort Smith passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022. He was born on February 10, 1934 in Paris, TN to H. Clyde and Gertrude Johnston. He attended Immaculate Conception School, St. Anne’s Academy, and St. Louis University. In 1956, he married his adored wife of 58 years, Sally Boerner Johnston. Clyde and Sally enjoyed their many travels with good friends. A natural born salesman, he built a successful career in the furniture industry. In retirement, he enjoyed his role as a standardized patient at the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Sally, daughter, Jackie Cravens, and granddaughter, Adrienne Shaunfield. He is survived by his son, Clyde, Jr. (Mamie), his daughters Ann Howells (Bob), Janice Donaubauer (Allyn), Cindy McNally (Tim), son-in-law, Sparks Cravens, grandchildren Emily Johnston, Rob Shaunfield, Rachel Siddall, Matt McNally, Will McNally, Caroline Cravens, Duncan Cravens, Blake Donaubauer (Teahnna), and Natalie Hedrick (Chris), and great-grandchildren River Shaunfield, Spring Shaunfield, Jane Siddall, Milo Mandarino, Annalee Mandarino, Blue Donaubauer, and Eleanor Donaubauer. Raised an only child, Clyde’s family meant everything to him.
Funeral mass will be at Immaculate Conception Church on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 11:00am under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Church where he was a longtime member.
