Clyde M. Gibson, 87, of Lavaca, AR died March 14, 2016 in Lavaca. He was born June 19, 1928 in Rusk County, Texas to Ernest Langhorn and Exa Jane Yandel Gibson. He was the founder and owner/operator of Lavaca Telephone Company, now Pinnacle Communications, past member of the Lavaca School Board and the Lavaca City Counsel, member of the Arkansas Telephone Association, Oklahoma Telephone Association, and the Telephone Pioneers, a veteran of the Korean War, and member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Central City.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Jo of the home; one daughter, Tammy Jo Gibson Nolan and husband Bennett of Fort Smith; three sons, Keith Gibson and wife Jill of Fort Smith, Dean Gibson and wife Monica of Lavaca, and Greg Gibson and wife Cindy of Lavaca; one brother, Wallace Gibson of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in the First Southern Baptist Church in Central City with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin, Micah, Brandon, and Bryan Gibson, and Alex and Austin Nolan.
The family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM in the First Southern Baptist Church.
